"EVP'S"
"Electronic Voice Phenomenon"
EVP stands for Electronic Voice Phenomenon, which in reference to Paranormal Investigating is when you use any electronic device that uses audio recordings. When you play back the audio the spirit has imprinted its voice on the media (cd, tape, simm card, or memory). There are generally 3 classes of EVP'S:
Class A - These are loud and easily understood.
Class B - They can be heard but they are unclear as to exactly what is being said and sometimes need to be "cleaned up".
Class C - These are hard to hear and understand and definitely have to be "cleaned up".
Class B & C are the most common types of EVP's and are generally disputed upon as to what they are saying, this is due to audio matrixing. This is why three people can listen to an EVP in the Class B/C area and get three different opinions on what it says. So for the most part listen to the files and see what you hear. It's best to use head phones or ear buds, if you don't hear anything try turning up the volume a bit.
Noise reducing head phones are considered the best for listening.
Also note, do not confuse EVP's with disembodied voices. These are generally heard in real time, but of course also show up in the recording. There are also other sounds, knocks on walls, stairs creaking, footsteps and other noises that happen for no apparent reason. Also considered to be paranormal, they are not considered to be EVP's.
